Organizing your presence in Russia

The five main ways of organizing your company presence in Russia are:

Employer of Record (EOR) - By using EOR services, you enable your organization to have operational feet on the ground in Russia, while not creating any formal presence in Russia. This typically is an option used for (initial) commercial and/or service activities.
Russian (overseas) bank account – The opening of a Russian bank account of a foreign company outside Russia will allow for receiving and sending money through a local account in Russia.
Representative office (RO) - The RO is a formal presence of a foreign entity in Russia. It can employ its own staff in Russia and have a Russian bank account. The RO is non-commercial, meaning a RO cannot conduct sales in Russia.
Branch Office (BO) - The BO is a commercially active representation. This means that a BO in comparison to a RO adds the possibility of local sales. Imports for resale purpose are not possible through a BO.
Legal Entity (LLC/JSC) - A local legal entity is a fully operational Russian entity. Payroll, operations, imports and sales can be processed directly. Money transfers to/from HQ abroad are intercompany transactions
